ANC 3F RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE REVISED

 CONCEPT/ADDITION, DEMOLITION OF WING, POOL, PARKING AREA

 PLANS FOR THE OWL’S NEST, 3031 GATES ROAD, N.W.

WHEREAS: on May 16, 2001, the Historic Preservation Review Board (HPRB) was designated the Owl’s Nest, 3031 Gates Road, N.W. a historic landmark in the District of Columbia Inventory of Historic Sites; and

WHEREAS: the Owl’s Nest is located in ANC 3F; and

WHEREAS: on June 21, 2005, George Gordon (applicant), agent for owner AB Urban Development LLC requested HPRB’s conceptual review of a proposal to demolish two additions and to construct a new addition, pool, and driveway/parking area; and

WHEREAS: the HPRB staff in a report to the Board recommended that the massing of the addition be simplified, the extent of paving within the driveway/parking area be reduced and the 1912 addition be retained; and

WHEREAS: ANC 3F in Res 05-17, adopted July 25, 2005, supported the HPRB staff report; and

WHEREAS: on July 28, 2005, the HPRB adopted the recommendations in the staff report; and

WHEREAS: the applicant has filed a revised proposal with drawings dated October 17, 2005 in which the massing on the addition on the north is reduced, the paving of the driveway/parking area is reduced and the 1912 addition is retained.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT: ANC 3F supports the revised proposed concept for an addition, pool, parking area, retention of the 1912 addition and demolition of the 1950s wing.

Adopted October 17, 2005, at a duly noticed public meeting with a quorum (a quorum being four) present by a vote of 4-0-2.
