Public Space Management Administration

“Stash Your Cash” Piggybank Sculpture

            WHEREAS, Capital One has applied to the Public Space Management Administration, Department of Transportation, for a public space permit, application number #11664, to place a piggybank sculpture on the West side of Connecticut Avenue, at the Van Ness Metro, for a limited period of time; and

 

            WHEREAS, representatives of Golin-Harris, the firm representing Capital One, appeared at the ANC 3F meeting on March 21, 2005; and   

 

            WHEREAS, Capital One is undertaking this financial education initiative targeted at public middle school students in Washington, D.C. to raise awareness about the importance of financial education in achieving life goals; and

 

            WHEREAS, the “Stash Your Cash” piggybank sculptures will showcase the artistic talents of area school children, encouraging youth pride; and

 

            WHEREAS, Capital One will provide special gifts to all participating schools, with financial rewards to the three schools with the highest rate of participation in the program;

 

            THEREFORE, ANC 3F, does not object to the placement of one sculpture at the Van Ness Metro on the West side of Connecticut Avenue, provided that:

 

1.      No Capital One advertising be placed on the piggybank, other than a small plaque on the base of the sculpture identifying Capital One as the sponsor. 

2.      That the installation and de-installation of the base and the piggybank not be done during the morning and/or evening rush hours on Connecticut Avenue.

 

 

 


Approved at a duly noticed public meeting of ANC 3F on April 18, 2005, with a quorum present (4 being a quorum), by a vote of 7-0-0.
