ANC 3F RESOLUTION SUPPORTING TRAFFIC
CALMING MEASURES FOR THE 5100 BLOCK OF
33RD STREET, 5000-5100 BLOCKS OF 34TH STREET,
AND 5100 BLOCK OF LINNEAN TERRACE, N.W.

WHEREAS: the 5100 block of 33rd Street N.W., the 5000 and 5100 blocks
of 34th Street, N.W. and 5100 block of Linnean Terrace, N.W. are in a residential
area located within ANC 3F; and
WHEREAS: cut-through traffic and speeding vehicles on these residential
streets are a serious safety problem for residents of this area; and
WHEREAS: property owners on 34th Street between Fessenden Street,
N.W. and Linnean Terrace, N.W. filed a petition with District Department
of Transportation (DDOT) on April 9, 2005, requesting traffic calming
measures for 34th Street, including the installation of stop signs for 34th
Street traffic at Broad Branch Terrace, and west bound traffic on Linnean
Terrace at 34th Street; and
WHEREAS: twenty-four of the twenty-six owners of property abutting
this section of 34th Street signed the petition; and
WHEREAS: traffic calming measures for 34th Street, N.W. could adversely
impact traffic on parallel streets, 33rd Street, N.W. and Linnean Terrace,
N.W.; and
WHEREAS: traffic calming measures, including the installation
of signs, would improve the general safety of the residents.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT: ANC 3F supports the petition for traffic
calming measures, and the requested stop signs and recommends and urges that
the traffic calming measures include the 5100 block of 33rd Street, N.W.,
the 5000-5100 blocks of 34th Street, N.W. and the 5100 block of Linnean Terrace,
N.W.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT: ANC 3F urges that the traffic calming
measurers and stop signs be installed at the earliest possible date.

Adopted April 18, 2005, at a duly noticed public meeting with a quorum (a
quorum being four) present by a vote of 7-0-0.
