ANC 3F RESOLUTION SUPPORTING PETITION FOR PERMANENT
 CURBS AND GUTTERS AND SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS
 IN THE 5000-5100 BLOCKS OF 34TH STREET, N.W.

WHEREAS: the 5000 and 5100 blocks of 34th Street, N.W. are located within ANC3F; and

WHEREAS: property owners on 34th Street between Fessenden Street, N.W. and Linnean Terrace, N.W. on April 9, 2005 sent a petition to the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) requesting permanent curbs and gutters and sidewalk improvements; and

WHEREAS: twenty-four of the twenty-six owners of property abutting this section of 34th Street signed the petition; and

WHEREAS: the twenty-four petitioners represent over 90 percent of the footage fronting on this section of 34th Street; and

WHEREAS: permanent curbs and gutters will improve the safety of persons entering and exiting vehicles, better control storm water and enhance the neighborhood; and

WHEREAS:  permanent sidewalk ramps would permit safe access to the sidewalks by wheelchairs and stroller and enhance the neighborhood; and

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT: ANC 3F supports the petition for the permanent curbs and gutters and sidewalk improvements and requests that they be installed at the earliest possible date, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT: ANC 3F urges DDOT to consult with the Urban Forestry Administration to take special care to protect all the street trees along 34th Street, N.W., in installing the curbs and gutters and undertaking sidewalk improvements.

Adopted April 18, 2005, at a duly noticed public meeting with a quorum (a quorum being four) present by a vote of 7-0-0.
