   ANC 3F RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE PETITION REQUESTING THE
    INSTALLATION OF A SIDEWALK ON THE EAST SIDE OF  THE 4400 AND 4500
    BLOCKS OF RENO ROAD,  NW BEGINNING AT THE ALLEY ON THE NORTH SIDE
   OF YUMA STREET AND ENDING AT THE CORNER OF THE SOUTH  SIDE
   OF APPLETON STREET, N.W.

    WHEREAS, the 4400 and 4500 blocks of Reno Road, NW are within the boundary of ANC     3F; and
                           
    WHEREAS, Reno Road is heavily used by pedestrians of all ages, particularly
         those with baby strollers and school age children, traveling to the numerous
         schools in the immediate neighborhood; and

    WHEREAS, the only sidewalk available to pedestrians in these blocks is on the
         west side of Reno Road; and

    WHEREAS, Reno Road is a heavily traveled commuter route; and

    WHEREAS, ANC 3F has been presented with a petition with 48 signatures
     representing 38 homes including all the affected abutting residents on the east side of
     Reno. The petition states:

        We, the undersigned, urge the DC government to pave a sidewalk along
        the east side of Reno Road from Yuma to Appleton Streets so that
        pedestrians can safely cross at the light on Albemarle Street on this
        curving, hilly and fast-moving section of Reno Road; and

    THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT:  ANC 3F recommends the
    installation of a sidewalk along these blocks on the east side of Reno Road while
    maintaining all the wheelchair curb cuts at their present locations. ANC 3F urges
    DDOT to consult with the Urban Forestry Administration to take special care to protect
    the street trees likely to be impacted by this project.

            quorum present.
