OF A TRAFFIC LIGHT AT THE TENLEYTOWN FIRE HOUSE

Advisory Neighborhood Commission 3F
North Cleveland Park, Forest Hills, & Tenleytown
4401-A Connecticut Avenue, N.W., Box 244
Washington, D.C. 20008-2322

WHEREAS, the Tenleytown Fire House, at 4300 Wisconsin Avenue, N.W., is located in ANC 3F; and

WHEREAS, the Tenleytown Fire House, which has served our area for over 100 years, is now being rebuilt and when completed, will house once again Engine 20, Truck 12, and additional emergency medical services equipment; and

WHEREAS, ANC 3F, on May 21, 2001, approved Resolution 01-11 requesting installation of a traffic light at the Tenleytown Fire House (1) for improved response time to emergencies, (2) for the safety of fire and emergency personnel having to direct equipment into and out of the fire house, and (3) for the safety of persons driving and walking past the fire house; and

WHEREAS, the District of Columbia government has taken no action on ANC 3F’s Resolution 01-11 requesting installation of a traffic light at the fire house; and

WHEREAS, since Resolution 01-11 was approved, conditions warranting a traffic light have not abated but have worsened, with at least two pedestrians having been hit and seriously injured by vehicles traveling on Wisconsin Avenue in the vicinity of the Tenleytown Fire House during the last year;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT ANC 3F reaffirms the attached Resolution 01-11 and requests that the District of Columbia take the opportunity now, while the fire house is under construction, to install a traffic light at the Tenleytown Fire House that can be activated when responding to or returning from a call.
