ANC 3F RESOLUTION TO STRENGTHEN THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN
DCFEMS AND BETHESDA-CHEVY CHASE RESCUE SQUAD

WHEREAS, the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad operates under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between it and the DC Fire and EMS Department (DCFEMS); and
WHEREAS, for more than 50 years the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad (BCCRS) has been an integral part of the emergency medical services provided to upper Northwest residents of Washington, D.C., including residents of ANC 3F; and
WHEREAS, the BCCRS has augmented, supplemented, and provided direct services to residents of upper Northwest, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, Ambulance 20 and Medic 31, are the only two medical transports assigned to upper Northwest DC: and
WHEREAS, Ambulance 20 and Medic 31 are often on emergency runs in other parts of the city and cannot answer calls in Ward 3; and
WHEREAS, Medic 31 is sometimes assigned to DC General for transport duty; and
WHEREAS, the citizens located in ANC 3F would be greatly compromised and at risk at any reduction of services provided by BCCRS; and
WHEREAS, BCCRS is equipped to respond to critical emergencies in upper Northwest in a timely manner, providing life saving care and transport; and
WHEREAS, DCFEMS Chief Adrian Thompson stated in his confirmation hearing before the DC City Council Judiciary Committee on 6 February 20003, that he would like to place an additional ambulance at Engine 29 and reduce the need for the services of the BCCRS,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT ANC 3F hereby joins ANC3E and ANC
3/4G in requesting that the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that currently
exists between DCFEMS and BCCRS be strengthened. ANC3F also asks
that no steps be taken to dissolve, dismantle, or diminish this agreement
in any way.

Approved by a vote of 7-0-0 at a duly noticed public meeting of ANC 3F on l7 March 20003 with a quorum present.
