ANC3F RESOLUTION SUPPORTING “NO THRU TRUCK”

WHEREAS: The 3600, 3700, 3800 blocks of Veazey Street NW are residential streets populated with single family homes; and
WHEREAS: Traffic on these streets is two directional, running east and west; and
WHEREAS: These are narrow streets which provide minimal room for accommodating two cars moving in opposite directions; and
WHEREAS: It is not possible for a car and a truck to pass together on the street and one must give way in order for the other to pass; and
WHEREAS: A number of small children as well as elderly people live on these blocks; and
WHEREAS: Thru trucks over 1 1/4 tons are prohibited from using the 3600, 3700, and 3800 blocks of Van Ness and Upton Streets immediately to the south of Veazey Street; and
WHEREAS: The 3600, 3700, 3800 blocks of Veazey Street NW are inappropriate streets for thru truck traffic.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT: ANC 3F requests that DPW
approve and oversee the immediate installation of signs prohibiting thru
trucks over 1 1/4 tons on the 3600, 3700, and 3800 blocks of Veazey Street
NW.
