looking for a large flat white sheet

Has anyone moved up to a king-size bed and happen to have a loose queen or
full cotton flat sheet? I am planning to make a big gathering quilt with
school children; graced with leaf pounding. A big white sheet of natural
fiber would be perfect. Also, if you are well versed in leaf pounding
and/or using natural dyestuffs, your suggestions are welcome! Thanks! Kate

Sidewalk on 45th between Verplank and Warren?

Many of us use 45th to get to Turtle park because 46th is so busy.
There is one block of 45th between the park and River Rd that has no
sidewalk on either side. The area without a sidewalk is adjacent to a
community garden, between Verplank and Warren, on the east side of the
street. Does anyone know why there is no sidewalk there? Does anyone
know how to get one put in? It is the one place where I have to push
my son in his stroller in the street, which makes me uncomfortable.
Any suggestions are welcome!

I can HIGHLY recommend All Four Seasons Col. They just replaced all
our ancient windows with new energy-efficient double-hung windows and
they did a great job at a sensational price. The house is already
warmer and quieter! The gentleman who handled our contract is Phil
Zlotnick. His number is 301-580-9399.
Please give him a call. You won't be disappointed. Bari Sedar

Chevy Chase Window Repair (Mr. Fathi Amari) does beautiful work. Just
replaced 32 sash cords in our 68-year-old house and did the job so
meticulously that you would never know he had been there. And at a very
reasonable price. He can be reached at 301-951-6138 or 240-413-4207 (cell).

Neighbor's drumming

It is very nice & neighborly to ask for suggestions on how to handle
drumming next door.

In addition to the great ideas offered, just wanted to add a perspective
from observing some of the positive aspects of music in our
family/community. Our son is off at college now so he is mostly away, but
he has been playing in our basement for years. Our loving neighbors have
been wonderful about it. He gave his cell phone number to them so that they
could call him any time the noise was too loud or ill timed. That was to
give them volume & timing control. For example, if one of your little ones
is home sick, a band playing next door is not a good idea, even if it is
still early. They were tremendously supportive of him learning to play.

Through high school it made a huge difference that he and his friends were
at home writing songs about social change and practicing music. As a
parent, it is much better for one's child to play music at home than hang at
the Metro stop or the "mall." Granted, they are noisy, but they formed
strong bonds as friends, learned how to work together as a band, ate
healthier snacks and in addition to working hard at their music, they are
all active in community service. Playing music, even drums, can have an
upside. Besides it takes more than once-a-week practice at school to become
a musician or singer. I, for one, would welcome more people in our
neighborhood taking up an instrument. So thankful that you are striving to
be gentle!

Thanks,

Kate
