This came from my CSA farmer

Stacey Marien

fyi

I am producing an independent documentary which will feature several
community gardens in Washington, D.C. and the many benefits they
provide to individuals, communities, and the environment.  The
documentary will include a segment on the history of community
gardens in the United States.  I would like to interview an
individual who can speak about the history of community gardens,
including these major periods in community gardening:

Detroit Mayor Hazen Pingree and his "Potato Patch Farms" in the late 1800s
The school gardens of the early 1900s
The War Gardens of World War I
The Depression-era gardens
The Victory Gardens of World War II
The large increase in community gardens during the 1970s

If you know an individual who lives in the Washington, D.C. area who
has the expertise to talk about these periods of history in community
gardening, please contact me.

Thank you very much for your recommendations!

Sincerely,
Cintia Cabib

Lee,

I feel your pain, although as a guitarist who hopes to teach his
daughter bass and son drums so he has a self-contained band, I
empathize with your neighbor, too. Most drummers eventually find
they need to do some custom soundproofing in their homes if they want
to practice there. Here are a couple of links on soundproofing for
drummers, the latter written from the perspective of a teenager:

I'd guess that the parents, even if enthusiastic about the child's
musical pursuits, would dig some soundproofing, too. Perhaps you can
offer to help with planning or installation of the soundproofing
material.

when I cannot enjoy my living room or use my home office because of
the noise. Although I have talked with these neighbors, who are nice
people, the beat goes on (even my neighbors on the other side can
hear it from parts of their house), and I have run out of ideas.
Would anyone have a suggestion about how I might deal with this
problem?
