Fort Reno Re-opened - Press Release on Arsenic Levels and Lead Findi

Posted by: "dellcat@aol.com" dellcat@aol.com catdell

Do we know why it took 5 years from sighting the arsenic, on a digital map
image done from space by USGS, for actual soil testing to take place? If that
is an indication of the effectiveness of our government, DC and US, then
shouldn't we question their finding the playgrounds and dog runs of Fort Reno
Park now safe? I'd like to see another arsenic imaging of parkland done again
by USGS. How difficult is that to achieve?
Thanks.

Beautiful Maine Coon still unclaimed

This beautiful and recently groomed Maine Coon who I now call Bangor is
still sitting sadly in a cage unclaimed. DC requires a 7 day wait
before considering a cat abandoned. He was found on the 5300 block of
43rd Street. Any ideas are welcome.

Lori,
Poor guy. I'll volunteer to foster him if you need someone to do this (or
even keep him if he likes us). We currently have a spayed female Maine Coon
mix, very sociable type; and a small & tolerant terrier mix. I'll be out of
town 6/7-6/12, however, not good timing.

Locksmith recommended

I heartily recommend using Tivoli locksmith, (202) 829-9222. His
superb work saved me hundreds of dollars in repairing (instead of
replacing) locks on my front door and two interior doors.

Child Safety Event in McLean VA - June 7

Posted by: "Samantha Nolan" nolantutor@yahoo.com nolantutor

Mon Jun 2, 2008 10:14 am (PDT)

We are having a critical child safety event in McLean VA on June 7. As we believe that parents, youth workers, law enforcement, community leaders and churches are our best partners in this effort, I am writing to ask for your help. I know that it is a distance, but it promises to be a very exciting program.

The event is a live production that is being filmed for national release in 2009 and includes video footage of an interview with a former sexual predator and testimony from subject-matter experts, including the president of EIE, FBI, the Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Internet industry experts, psychologists, as well a a rescued teen. She was 13 when it happened. At nineteen, she speaks out to parents and youth in an effort to get out her message on the importance of Internet safety -- communication and monitoring.

I am attaching a flyer and the newsletter which goes in to more depth about the program. Please check out the video on our web page as well at www.enoughisenough.org.

Please come if you are available. It would be great to have you as one of the leaders who asks a question. If you know any parents who are struggling with this issue, please invite them to come. Some parents are bringing their youth. Due to the content, esp. of the pornography section, we ask that they be 17years of age.
Please call me if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Marsha Hott

Foster Home Needed for Main Coon cat

Posted by: "Lori" lrol@aol.com nofir57

Mon Jun 2, 2008 1:22 pm (PDT)

The beautiful Maine Coon who has still not found her family, is in dire
need of a place to chill while she waits. This lovely girl who I am
calling Bangor will go to the vet Wednesday and would really like to
return to something other than a cage.
If you can provide a temporary home for Bangor please let me know. You
will be screened by Homeward Trails and we will continue to cover
Bangor's vet bills should there be any. All you need is love, good
food, litter and a committment to keep this girl indoors !!!

New Exhibit Worth Seeing

I would like to recommend the new art exhibit
at the Sackler -- Yellow Mountain: China's
Ever-Changing Landscape. It's a small exhibit
but very nicely done. If you go, make sure you
look through the book of photographs in the first
room. It's like looking at Ansel Adams in China --
wonderful photography!
