That's awful. Is mace even legal in D.C.? I thought
pepper spray was the only thing that was (and you even
need to register for that).

The other day we received a weird, unsigned, home-made flyer with our mail,
warning dog owners to keep their pets from bothering the mail carriers and
mentioning the penalties for not doing so. ( We don't have a dog) The flyer
was similar to one we received before Christmas from our mail carrier asking to
send him money. ( I reported that one to the Friendship Heights postmaster.)
You can try to report your dog macing to the postal inspectors; the number's on
the USPS website. But sInce they are only for fraud, they will probably give
you another number to call.
Possible supervisory postal officials here for you to complain to are Bill
Miner 202 636-2210, Jack Potter 202 268-2000 and Brandon Toadley (sic).

Digest of recommended service providers

One of the valuable benefits of the Communit-E listserve that Kathy Smith
graciously operates for us is our neighbors¹ recommendations of service
providers. I aggregate those recommendations into a digest and every 6
months Kathy sends out a note to all about it.

If you¹d like me to send you the updated digest automatically every 6
months, just drop me an email. Don¹t send the email to the listserve; send
it to me directly.
