This week, I received an email,
allegedly from the Internal Revenue Service, alerting me that I
would be receiving a 2008 tax rebate. It looked authentic and official.
There was a link I was
supposed to click which would take me to an "IRS" site where I would
then enter my financial
information, which would supposedly enable a direct deposit of the
rebate to my bank
account.
THIS IS A SCAM!
The IRS does NOT contact people via email. If you receive a similar
email, delete it
immediately or forward it to the IRS. Do not, under any circumstances,
click on the link or
provide any of your personal financial information.
Forewarned is forearmed.
