I second the recommendation on going to the Apple Store. The folks at the store in
Bethesda Row are very competent. But it is always crowded there, so you have to make a
reservation to see a Mac Genius. Here is the link for making a reservation:

Good luck,
Jason

WASHER AND GAS DRYER FOR SALE
This matching white heavy-duty washer and dryer are about seven years
old. However, they have had very limited use and have been idle for a
couple years. They are in very good condition. I can demonstrate
their running condition.
Asking $180 for both - OBO. Buyer would have to arrange for pickup.

I also have a Daewoo Computer Monitor free. Just call and come by and
pick it up.

DROP OFF HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE, ELECTRONICS RECYCLING AT CARTER

DROP OFF HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE, ELECTRONICS RECYCLING AT CARTER
BARRON AMPHITHEATRE APRIL 26

The DC Department of Public Works (DPW) will hold its annual spring
Household Hazardous Waste and E-Cycling collection event Saturday, April
26, 2008, from 9 am to 3 pm at the Carter Barron Amphitheatre parking
lot at 16th and Kennedy Streets, NW. This is a drop-off service that is
free and open to all District residents and will not require residents
to get out of their vehicles.

DC residents can bring items including leftover cleaning and gardening
chemicals, small quantities of gasoline, pesticides and poisons, mercury
thermometers, paint, solvents, spent batteries of all kinds, antifreeze,
chemistry sets, automotive fluids, and even asbestos floor tiles to the
collection site for environmentally safe disposal.

Additionally, an electronics recycler will be onsite to take end-of-life
consumer electronics including computers, computer monitors and other
accessories, televisions, and office equipment. These machines will be
broken down into their component parts (plastic, glass, toxic/heavy
metals) and recycled or disposed of safely.

To help protect against identity theft, computers and hard drives
brought to the event will be wiped clean three times using US Department
of Defense high-level security wiping procedures.

Items that will NOT be accepted during the Household Hazardous Waste and
Electronics Recycling Collection include ammunition, bulk trash, wooden
TV consoles, propane tanks, microwave ovens, air conditioners and other
appliances, as well as radioactive or medical wastes.

Learn more information about household hazardous waste and e-cycling by
visiting DPW's website at www.dpw.dc.gov <http://www.dpw.dc.gov/> or by
dialing 311 (202-727-1000 if you are calling from outside the District).

Help sponsor an inner city child at camp this summer

Posted by: "Samantha Nolan" nolantutor@yahoo.com   nolantutor

From: Samantha Nolan <nolantutor@yahoo.com>

If you would like to contribute to a positive experience of a child this summer, please consider sponsoring a child at Camp Brown. The camp is run by the Boys and Girls Club along with the officers of the Metropolitan Police Department. This is a sleep away camp where officers fish, swim, hike and play with children to give them a positive experience with police while allowing them one week outside of the city to run and play without fear of bullets, gangs or violence. To attend the camp, children must pay $125 each for their registration fee. The Boys and Girls Club pays all of the other fees. For many children in the City, the $125 keeps them out of camp for the summer.

The MPD Citizens Advisory Council raises money each year to help these children with the fees. If you would like to sponsor a child at Camp Brown this year, please send your check for $125, made out to the Joseph K. Smith Memorial Summer Camp Fund (named for a great city leader who worked to improve the lives of children in DC), to me, Samantha Nolan, at 2940 Northampton Street, NW, Washington, DC 20015. I serve on the Camp Brown Board, and I will make sure your check gets processed so that a child can enjoy camp this year. There is also a dinner on June 13, at the Navy Yard, to help raise money to send children to camp. If you would like to join us for the dinner, the ticket price is $40. Please make out the check for the dinner in the same way, and mail it to me. I will get your dinner ticket to you. If you have any questions, please contact me at 244-2620.

Thank you for your help.

Samantha Nolan

I am familiar with Camp Brown and this program and I wholly
support it and thank Samantha for all her hard work to help
give some of our city's poorest kids a chance to have one
good week away from some wretched home lives. It can make
a huge difference in their outlooks and possibly their
futures.
