What I've seen recently at the base of
trees is something that looks
like flour, feels like flour, and smells like flour. I assume it's
flour. If it's flour, it was probably put there as a trail marker by a
Hash House Harrier group. To understand what that is, Google the name.
The city marks trees for removal with a red dot about 4 or 5 feet above
the ground.

white marks at the base? I would hate to think that the healthy and
very welcome tree in front of our house is marked for removal.
