terrorism, crime, and disasters of all kinds. The Neighborhood
Corps Initiative is a neighborhood/community-based training program
designed to organize, mobilize, and train residents to respond as a
neighborhood/community in the event of a local emergency or
disaster. These sessions are customizable and designed to meet
neighborhood-specific needs. Please join us in learning first-hand
from local first responders and other emergency management
professionals.

I just sent a letter to Mary Cheh and her response was to tell me that
I need to contact my ANC to tell them of my views?

I am for the visitors pass.

I would be interested in understanding, from those who support DDOT's
proposed pilot visitor program, why it is necessary for visitors to
have unlimited parking rights a mile or more from their host's
residence, so long as the restricted on-street space is within the
same ANC. Even though parking is extremely difficult in my
neighborhood, I have never needed to go a mile or a mile and a half
away to find a parking space. I would also be interested in
understanding the opposition having the resident's address clearly
displayed on the permit, and how the program will be enforced.

I don't think there are any silver bullets to solve the parking
problems. Some of us live in areas where there usually is available
parking and would welcome the pilot proposal. Some of us live where
parking is less available and will see it become even more difficult.
Most of us view the overall parking situation based upon where we live.

Residential parking

Does anyone know how Bethesda handles streets with permit parking (of which
there are many bordering Wisconsin Ave. between Old Georgetown Road and
Bradley Blvd.)? I often take classes at the Writers Center on the street
next to the street where Trader Joe's is, right off Wisconsin. Those
streets have permit parking only until 7:30 pm every day. I wonder how they
do it. Maybe they have a system?

Proposed Expansion of the Wisconsin Avenue Baptist Church  - ANC Mee

Posted by: "feeneyhirsh" s.hirsh@verizon.net   feeneyhirsh

Sun Feb 24, 2008 12:50 pm (PST)

The Wisconsin Avenue Baptist Church on Alton Place NW is seeking ANC
and BZA approval to build a four-floor addition to its current annex,
and to put an additional floor atop that existing annex. The parking
lot would be realigned with a curb cut to let cars out onto Yuma
Street.

This is a significant change from the Church's initial September
request, which only sought BZA approval for certificates of occupancy
for three tenant groups. Those groups have been operating at the WABC
without certificates of occupancy for up to several years.

Neighbors near the church are greatly worried that the new project is
too large for the site. The proposed development raises serious
safety, traffic, parking, environmental and economic concerns. The
project appears to some to be woefully unplanned. As far as neighbors
can determine, no traffic, environmental, construction or other
impact studies have been performed and no alternate designs
considered.

The Tenleytown/North Cleveland Park/Forest Hills ANC 3F will consider
the proposed development on Monday evening (Feb. 25) at the Capital
Memorial Church, 3150 Chesapeake St., NW. The meeting starts at
7:30pm; this item is not likely to come up until roughly 8:30pm. The
BZA is scheduled to discuss it on March 11.

Send questions, ideas or statements of support to this post, or reach
out to Pamela Roberts at robjia@verizon.net or (202) 744-2164.

THANKS.

Calling any Dog- Lovers....

Any of you can help - & many of you have some connections which can also help:

American Brittany (Spaniel) Rescue ( a national rescue group) is starting a capital
campaign, and would love to have someone well-known to share our vision with us to earn
enough money for a sanctuary for our senior dogs. Most people looking to adopt want
younger dogs; & therefore these seniors stay in foster homes (sometimes more than one) for
extended time periods, or never get adopted. The sanctuary atmosphere would be easier &
more stable for them, & give them lots of room to walk, run and roam (a Brittany's first love).
We also hope to have on-site vet care for any senior health care issues. This extra home will
free up foster homes so we can save more dogs in shelters. This has been an increasing side
effect of the mortgage crisis, as more people mustleave homes where they could have pets.
If any of you have any connections to any well known names who would be willing to "loan"
us his or her name to kick off our campaign for these wonderful dogs - please email me, or
contact us at: americanbrittanyrescue.org . We welcome any donations of time or money.
We hope to start in June with an *online auction - any one have any items, vacations,
miles, etc. they would like to donate for a *tax deduction in 2008?! - think ahead!
