Ace Hardware Referrals

From: gina@loganhardware.com

Tenleytown Ace Hardware outsources its referral requests to a local
company called Urban Referrals (www.urbanreferrals.com). Urban
Referrals does an extensive background check on all of the contractors
and service providers it refers. It's been a great source for us and
our customers when we're not sure who to turn to and when we want
multiple quotes for jobs.

Janney Players present Damn Yankees THIS weekend February 22nd and 2

Posted by: "gatorwack" gatorwack@yahoo.com   gatorwack

Are you ready for baseball? Nothing could get you in the mood for the
season more than seeing the Janney Elementary School Players as they
present "Damn Yankees," a devilish musical comedy set during the 1950s
in Washington, DC. This Broadway Musical has charmed audiences for 50
years, and this year, the Janney Players become the underdog Washington
Senators (with under-worldly powers), as they chase the New York
Yankees for the Pennant. Will they be able to stop the Yankees from
their domination of the League?
The shows are this Friday, February 22nd at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday,
February 23rd, at 2:00 p.m. at Deal Middle School, 3815 Fort Drive NW
(just off Nebraska Avenue). Tickets are $5 for general seating. There
is free, but limited, parking at Deal. Refreshments will be sold
during intermission.
Bring the whole family and have yourself a ball as you watch the Janney
4th, 5th, and 6th graders put on another terrific show. You might even
want to show up in your Nationals gear to really get yourself in the
spirit!

The DC Public Library has a limited number of bricks saved from the
demolished Tenley-Friendship Neighborhood Library.  If you would like one as a memento
of the old library, we will be distributing them in front of the library on
Friday, February 29 from 12-2 pm.   For more information, contact
martha.saccocio@dc.gov.

Residential Parking Permit Solution Not A Done Deal

Posted by: "kathysmithindc" ksmith1804@starpower.net   kathysmithindc

From: Kathy Smith

A story in yesterday's Northwest Current quoted Mary Cheh
as saying that she has not heard much response from residents
for this idea, and that the response has been mixed.

I would urge anyone who wants to get a pass for regular
visitors to let Mary know you are interested. There is
opposition to this idea.

Her email address is MCheh@DCCOUNCIL.US

I am opposed to this new visitor parking proposal. It will have a
negative effect on my neighborhood. We are already unable to park in
our block and on nearby streets due to metro riders, shoppers and
restaurant patrons and help. I am one block off Wisconsin Ave. on
Jenifer Street. Even on Sunday mornings I am unable to park in my
block when returning from church services. The present procedures for
visitors is a reasonable and fair procedure. This new proposal might
be ok for less-congested streets but would have an adverse impact on a
neighborhood like mine which is already heavily congested.

The visitor parking pass would permit drivers to park only within
their ANC area. Unlike the Ward passes, drivers with Chevy Chase ANC
passes would not be able to park in Cleveland park with the visitor's
pass. Samantha Nolan

My Letter To Councilmember Cheh

Posted by: "kathysmithindc" ksmith1804@starpower.net   kathysmithindc

Fri Feb 22, 2008 9:00 am (PST)

Dear Councilmember Cheh,

Relief is long overdue for people to be able to have friends, workmen,
service
providers to their homes without the fear of getting a ticket. Your
idea of
giving each household a pass is an excellent one. My block is often nearly
empty of cars yet no visitor can park there for more than two hours.

You will need to address the concerns of folks who live near Metro
stations.
They fear that the passes will be rented to commuters. I imagine there are
ways to get around this problem. What did they do in Ward 4?

Thank you for supporting this sensible solution to a very annoying
problem.

Free Pool Table

Is anyone interested in a pool table? It's slate so it's heavy but the
green is new and has the sticks, etc. Free if you haul it away.
