Yes, the guest parking is most intolerable. Does anyone know of ways we
residents can help speed up a new guest parking policy?

Residential Permit Parking

The residential permit parking restriction must be posted on the
block where you live in order to obtain a RPP sticker for the
vehicle. The residential parking permit designation must be
requested by the residents of those blocks in her neighborhood. The
residents obtained the necessary signatures on a petition and
forward to their ANC. Thus the ANC will submit it to DDOT.

DDOT approves the RPP petitions based on a set of criteria. Once
the street is designated a part of the RPP zone, the residents on
the block are eligible to purchase a zone sticker. The vehicle
bearing the zone sticker can be parked in excess of two hours on any
RPP street in their zone as long as there's no street cleaning or
other restriction that street.

Are the proposed guest permits totally open-ended? How will abuse be prevented?

I don't know that it's such a great idea. I've been offered money to
rent out my parking spot in my alley to a GDS student. Not that I
would do it, but it would be very easy to "rent" these permits out to
students and commuters wanting to park near the metro.

One change on the list of recommended people. Wonderful master
plasterer DJ Cover died unexpectedly a week or so ago. Please have
him deleted from your list.
many thanks
