I'm not sure which of the two organizations was soliciting ACs, but try
either Bread for the City or SOME. The Bread contact is

If in working condition, give "A Wider Circle, " 301-657-1010 in
Bethesda, a call. Or online at <wider circle.org>. They will pick
up any usable donation to a charity. They were delighted to get my
new, unused rollaway bed I'd been stumbling over for the past 35
years. Same kind Congress uses for long sessions. Depending.

Richard Paul misunderstood my advice. I don't advocate anyone going over
while the alarm is ringing to investigate, cajole, or anything else. I do
advocate speaking to your neighbors at a convenient time about an
incessantly ringing alarm. I hope that clarifies my suggestion.
