911 - to be used for all police calls, both emergency and nonemergen

Speaking of non-emergencies, I was out this morning chipping the solid ice
and frozen snow from my windshield, when a police car pulled up on the
other side of the street. A uniformed officer got out, crossed the street,
and said, "Let me do that for you, maam, while you start the car and turn
the defrosters on." She explained that she was concerned about me slipping
or being in danger from rush hour commuters passing close to my car, which
was parked on 46th Street. She quickly cleared off both back and front
windows and returned to her car. I thought it would be nice to share this
pleasant experience with neighbors.

From Kay Springwater:

I use Framers' Workroom at 4431 Wisconsin Avenue between Albemarle and Tenley Circle all the time. They will either custom frame for you offering a wide range of frames, mats, etc and excellent advice or they will prepare the materials for you and assist you in doing it yourself. Check out their website - www.framersworkroomdc.com for their hours and other information.

I recommend the Watergate Gallery and Frame Shop, where I have had
several pictures framed. Dale Johnson, the owner, has a huge selection
of beautiful frames. She has a real eye for putting together the right
combination of matte and frame to make a picture glow, and is willing to
take the time to listen and work with you.

I have used the FRAMERS WORKROOM for many years and they are extremely knowledgeable, very helpful, and excellent. They are on Wisconsin Avenue at Albermarle, across the street from the ex-Tenley Library.

I find this note quite ironic. The worst sidewalk situation in my neighborhood--the worst for years--are the sidewalks around Wilson High School. Last winter I called the Ward 3 service representative to report that the sidewalks at the school were dangerous and was told that I was not the only one to call. I note today the sidewalks are not shoveled.
