Speaking of non-emergencies, I was out
this morning chipping the solid ice
and frozen snow from my windshield, when a police car pulled up on the
other side of the street. A uniformed officer got out, crossed the
street,
and said, "Let me do that for you, maam, while you start the car and
turn
the defrosters on." She explained that she was concerned about me
slipping
or being in danger from rush hour commuters passing close to my car,
which
was parked on 46th Street. She quickly cleared off both back and front
windows and returned to her car. I thought it would be nice to share
this
pleasant experience with neighbors.
