Many thanks to all who contributed to UNICEF on Halloween night.
According to the school's guidance counselor, trick-or-treaters from
Janney Elementary School raised $2,866.38!

Does anyone have recommendations for a civil engineer, home inspector or similar professional who is experienced in diagnosing wet/flooding basements? Our basement has been taking in water the last few days, even though it hasn't rained in a couple of days. Mike Wolf

Back in September, Councilmember Berliner organized a public
roundtable to discuss the Woodmont East development proposal, which
would affect the Capital Crescent Trail as it proceeds through the
tunnel under Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda. Over 100 people attended
the meeting and many raised concerns about the project. After
continued criticisms about the project by the community and the
Montgomery County Planning Board, the developers withdrew the proposal.

The development team has now made changes to their design and will
make these plans available to the public. Councilmember Berliner is
convening another public roundtable on Tuesday, January 8th to allow
members of the community to view the plans and ask questions. Here are
the details --

Woodmont East is a proposed 539,825 square foot mixed-use development
project (hotel, retail, and housing) located at the corner of Woodmont
and Bethesda Avenues and extends over to Elm Street. After serious
concerns were expressed by community members, the Montgomery County
Planning Board, and Councilmember Berliner, the project developers
asked the Planning Board to defer action on the proposal until they
had an opportunity to revise the plan. The presentation on the 8th
will reflect the project sponsor's response to the concerns raised by
the community.
