Hugo is my foster cat and got out last night. We live on Asbury Place
between Chesapeake and Davenport. He is an indoor cat that managed to
push open an upstairs bifold door go down and out the dog door. Please
help us find him. he has a Craigs List posting and a petfinder link,
http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=9701155.
Hugo is an adult brown tabby with collar and tags. He is very friendly
and recently neutered (thank god).

Bone Marrow Drive for a Member of the AU Park Community

Hi Folks,

We hope you'll consider doing a simple cheek-swab test to help us find a bone marrow
donor for a neighborhood parent who is battling leukemia. You do not need to give
blood--it's just a cheek-swab test.

When:
Saturday, December 15, 2007
3 pm – 6 pm

Where:
Janney Elementary School
4136 Albemarle St. NW, Wash. DC
(intersection of Albemarle St. and Wisconsin Ave NW,
across from Best Buy and the Tenleytown station on Metro's Red Line)

More Details:
A local parent is battling CLL (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia), a form of blood cancer. She
is in urgent need of a bone marrow transplant. We are asking all potential donors to take a
simple cheek swab to determine if their bone marrow might be a match.

Our neighbor is of South Asian descent, so we especially need donors that have a similar
heritage (e.g., from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, East Africa, Guyana, or
Afghanistan). There are a tiny number of South Asian donors in the national bone marrow
registry, so finding a matching donor for her may be very difficult.

All potential donors can take a cheek swab and get registered in the National Marrow
Donor Program. Those of South Asian descent or from African-American, Hispanic,
American Indian/Alaska Native, and other Asian/Pacific Islander origin can get registered
for free (others must pay a $52 tissue-typing fee to register).

Leukemia and other fatal blood disorders can happen to anyone:
• Out of 6.6 million registered donors in the National Marrow Donor Program registry,
only 1% is South Asian
• Therefore, there is only a 1 in 20,000 chance of matching for South Asians compared
to 1 in 15 for Caucasians
• If more people register – especially minorities – we will have a greater chance to find
matches for those battling leukemia.

How you can help:
• All healthy individuals between the ages of 18-60 can volunteer
• Fill out a form and have a simple cheek swab to register - it takes only a few minutes
• Please spread the word about this drive to people and organizations with ties to the
South Asian community in the DC area.

My mistake, I should have written Wisconsin, not Connecticut. ALL
credit in my post goes to kind people at the Friendship station on
Wisconsin Avenue. I'm sorry for the confusion.

I am very pleased to hear about your experience. Just to make sure:
I have no beef with the
post office on Connecticut Av., Chevy Chase, DC. Everytime I go there
it has been a good
experience. It is the Friendship Office on Wisconsin Av. I have a
problem with.

John Leman is a real old fashioned handyman. He is repairing the cable
on our old attic steps. No one knew what to do. He can solve any
problem because he thinks things out. He is busy. Be patient. He will
return your call. He is definitely worth the wait. h-202 686-6727 or

Can anyone recommend a replacement window company? We are looking to
replace all of our original windows (about 16 windows) with
double-hung vinyl windows.
