Very small moving job

Any ideas on where to find two guys who can move a sofa bed from our living room to the basement? Problem is that the feet must be removed to fit through the basement door, and they're on too tight for a screwdriver. May need a reverse drill, or simply cut them off and glue back. *Traffic Advisory*

Foxhall Road, NW Upcoming Short Term Closure

(Washington, DC) As part of the ongoing improvement project on Foxhall
Road, NW, the District of Columbia Department of Transportation (DDOT)
will close Foxhall Road to through traffic from Reservoir Road to
Nebraska Avenue from Wednesday, October 17, 2007 following morning rush
hour through Thursday, October 25, 2007. The short-term closure will
help facilitate repairs on the project, which is running ahead of
schedule.

Limited local access will be permitted between Reservoir Road and
Nebraska Avenue, NW. Residents in the area were sent letters of
notification last week.

Detour Route:

* Northbound traffic on Foxhall Road towards Nebraska Avenue will be
detoured via Reservoir Road and MacArthur Boulevard and Arizona Avenue.

* Southbound traffic on Foxhall Road towards Reservoir Road will be
detoured via Nebraska Avenue and Arizona Avenue and Macarthur Boulevard.

* Detour signs will be placed along the roadsides advising motorists
of the detour route. If all the work is not completed by October 25,
2007, DDOT will continue this operation for the next seven work days or
until completion.

Local Access Route:

* Roadway repairs on Foxhall Road will require complete closure of
Foxhall Road between Fulton Street and Edmunds Street, NW. All local
access will be routed onto adjacent streets.

* Northbound local traffic on Foxhall Road will detour eastbound onto
Edmunds Street to 44th Street for access.

* Southbound local traffic on Foxhall Road will detour eastbound onto
Garfield Street to 44th Street for access.

On-street parking will be removed to insure adequate room along the
detour route. DDOT will post "No Parking" signs in advance.

Work Summary:

The project consists of $4 million in streetscape upgrades and road
construction on Foxhall Road between Nebraska Avenue and Canal Road, NW.
Construction is expected to be completed by June 2008.

The project will include the following improvements:

* The intersection at Reservoir Road will be widened and a
left-turn-only lane from eastbound Reservoir Road to northbound Foxhall
Road will be added.
* Unsafe and deteriorating sections of curbs and gutters, sidewalks,
wheelchair ramps, pavement markings and traffic signs will be replaced.
* A new retaining wall will be constructed at the northeast quadrant
of the Foxhall Road intersection at Reservoir Road.
* New traffic signals and street lighting will be installed at
Reservoir Road and Foxhall Road.
* The existing pavement on Foxhall Road from Canal Road to Nebraska
Avenue will be milled and completely resurfaced.

Car Alarm Doubles As House Alarm

Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you
hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to
>> get in your house, just press the panic button for
>> your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will
>> continue to sound until either you turn it off or the
>> car battery dies. This tip came from a neighborhood
>> watch coordinator and your friendly police officer.
>> &g t;> Next time you come home for the night and you
start to
>> put your keys away, think of this: It's a security
>> alarm system that you probably already have and
>> requires no installation. Test it.
>>
>> It will go off from most everywhere inside your house
>> and will keep honking until your battery runs down or
>> until you reset it with the button on the key fob
>> chain.
>>
>> It works if you park in your driveway or garage. If
>> your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to
>> break in your house, odds are the burglar or rapist
>> won't stick around... after a few seconds all the
>> neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who
>> is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want
>> that.
>>
>>
>> And remember to carry your keys while walking to your
>>! ; car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same wa y
>> there.....
>>
>> This is something that should really be shared with
>> everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse
>> crime.

Hello neighbors....We're searching for a plasterer / painter for several
rooms in the house. Also, we've grown leery of VOB and wondered whether
anyone can recommend a mechanic in the 'hood who works on Saab? Many
thanks!
