DDOT CITY MAP UPDATED AND REFRESHED

Newest Version of Citywide Map Includes New Landmarks and Features

(Washington, DC) Emeka Moneme, Director of the District Department of
Transportation (DDOT) today announced that DDOT has released an
updated version of its new citywide map, "Washington, DC: The American
Experience."

The citywide map - the first version of which was released by DDOT in
February - was produced using GIS: Geographic Information Systems
technology.

The map clearly outlines District streets in an easy-to-read format.
The reverse side provides detailed bus and Snow Emergency routes and
other useful information such as a map of the city's bikeways, a map
of the DC Circulator bus line and a centralized map of the District's
public transportation network of Metrorail and Metro bus.

The map also includes a mini-map of the city's carsharing locations in
partnership with Flexcar and Zipcar.

"Our newest map is one of the most beautiful we have ever produced,"
said DDOT Director Emeka Moneme. "Residents can use it as a handy
reference tool, for wall art, to navigate through the District of
Columbia, or just admire the landmarks of the Nation's Capital. I hope
residents across the city find it handy and useful."

The update map includes several new features:

* A new cover with a photograph of the renovated Thomas Circle in
Northwest. DDOT last year re-opened the circle following a $6 million
rehabilitation and redesign that allows for better pedestrian and
traffic flow.
* Addition of new landmarks including the District of Columbia
World War Memorial on the National Mall.
* Addition of named alleys to the map - left off in the previous
edition.

In addition to transportation information, the map employs data made
available by the District of Columbia Geographic Information System
program (DC GIS) of the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO).

For a copy of new citywide map stop by DDOT's headquarters at the
Reeves Center, 14th and U Streets, NW, 5th Floor.

Can anyone recommend a slate roofer for some minor repair work?

Looking for a basement contractor

Hi,

We are just beginning the process of looking for a contractor, (or handy
man?) to help us finish our basement. The basement is actually
"finished" but we could really make more of the space if we joined all the
utilities in one area and combined storage areas as well. Please let me know
if you have references for people who could do this type work and who are
reasonably priced.

The Sept. 17th community meeting regarding the RFP for the
library/school site has been cancelled because the RFP will not be
ready for public review by then. Mr. Eric Scott of the Office for
Planning and Economic Development hopes to have the draft RFP ready by
the end of this month. The ANC 3E will try to reschedule a community
meeting to discuss the RFP once it has been written.
