Re noisy house parties involving AU students.

American University=C2 has said in its neighborhood meetings=C2 that in cases of off-campus misconduct by students living in neighborhoods adjacent to AU's Campus, the person to contact=C2 at AU is Sara Waldron, Associate Dean of Students.
The Dean of Students Office telephone number is (202) 885 3300 for calls during business
=C2 hours, and for after hours messages.
AU has also=C2 said that it has=C2 a "Neighborhood Action Program" designed to address off-campus misconduct by students living in neighborhoods adjacent to the AU Campus. (The University is submitting this Program to the Board of Zoning Adjustment as part of its 2000 Campus Plan).
In situations where student misconduct poses a substantial danger to others or there is a violation of state or federal law, the University will charge students under its Student Conduct Code.=C2 In all other cases, the University will investigate and address student misconduct through the following procedures:
.=C2 receiving and investigating complaints from neighbors;
.=C2 identifying AU residents of properties;
.=C2 meeting with with residents and informing them of University policies, Student Conduct Code violations,=C2 and=C2 legal consequences of such behaviour;
.=C2 notifying local and national leaders of organizations with which students may be associated (such as Greek organizations or athletic teams) and urging them to take remedial action;
.=C2 contacting neighbors periodically to determine the status of the situation;
.=C2 regularly assessing student compliance with directives; and
.=C2 when necessary, assisting neighbors to seek further action off campus.

My son, Michael's local business, WIRED UP HOME THEATER, offers various
services including home theater and multi-room music systems
installation.

For those with existing TV/Stereo system he provides a single remote
control with one touch control eliminating all those remotes we can end
up with.

He also helps clients manage all of their various gadgets
(cameras/smart phones/etc) and home/office equipment and can teach you
to understand and use them.

Finally he does a great PC clean-up that will make your computer run
like new!

He can be reach on 202-362-9029 or email at
michael@wireduphometheater.com. I can be reach at 202-237-2599.
Thanks, Dick Reed

group house parties and noise ordinances

I believe noise restrictions apply to equipment and machinery that are a
permanent part of a building such as air conditioning, heating, humidifier,
etc. Regulations place decibel limits on such devices. Portable devices
such as mowers, power tools, blowers, etc., do not fall under these
restrictions.

REMINDER--TENLEYTOWN HERITAGE TRAIL SECOND MEETING
Tenleytown Interim Library 4200 Wisconsin Avenue
Sunday Afternoon, September 16, 2007
2:00PM – 4:00PM

Sponsored by
Tenleytown Neighbors Association http://tenleytowndc.org/
Tenleytown Historical Society www.tenleytownhistoricalsociety.org
In partnership with Cultural Tourism DC www.CulturalTourismDC.org
This will be the second of our series of six meetings to develop the Tenleytown Heritage Trail. Our very successful kick-off meeting was held June 20. We now invite the community to attend a session for sharing stories, remembrances, and vintage pictures. We will be making sound recordings of your stories and photocopies of the pictures. If you had family in Tenleytown, grew up here, or have lived here for a long time, please join us, and extend this invitation to people without computer access who might have valuable information and pictures. Those who attended the first meeting are, of course, also invited to this one.
The Tenleytown Heritage Trail will be part of the Washington, DC, Neighborhood Heritage Trails, a series of self-guided walking tours consisting of poster-sized signs installed in 90-minute walking loops through historic city neighborhoods. Heritage Trails are developed by neighborhood working groups and the nonprofit Cultural Tourism DC. The Heritage Trails are a project of Cultural Tourism DC, funded by the District Department of Transportation using federal Transportation Enhancement funding.
When our Tenleytown Heritage Trail is completed, there will be handsome, freestanding informational signs at about seventeen sites, plus a beautifully designed brochure that can be picked up at local businesses. The Trail will attract residents and tourists to the rich history of our neighborhood.
