At about 10pm on August 11 two young women walking to 47th street from
the metro were robbed at gunpoint by two men on 44th St between
Verplanck Place and Warren Street. They gave them their purses and
were not injured but were very upset by the experience and took refuge
in the house on that corner of Verplanck. The homeowner called the
police and two officers came immediately, followed by a third, and
spent an hour talking to the victims. We have had no word of a
follow-up from the police and would like to know if this is a pattern
in our area. I do not believe the victims saw a car following them,
but the police went out to look for the perpetrators and could not
find them so perhaps they did have a car.
