I have just received an e-mail message from Karyn LeBlanc of DDOT that
she will have information for us on Monday, July 16th regarding the
topic of parking along River Road near Western Avenue during the
morning rush hour.

I wonder why people are so stubborn in wanting to use that route, if they don't like delays when traffic is heavy.

I live a few steps from Western and River.

If I plan to take the beltway, the entrances from Wisconsin, from Connecticut, and from River Road take the same amount of travel time from my house.

If I plan to take 270, Wisconsin works as well or better than River.

If I want 66, I take Key Bridge.

If I want the Dulles toll road, I take Chain Bridge.

The paper keeps telling us that the segment of the Beltway that crosses American Legion Bridge, between River and GW, is the most heavily travelled segment. It is often backed up. And doing two merges to get from the River Road entrance to the outer loop beltway is just horrendous.

Given that River Road only starts in DC at Wisconsin, I don't see why any but local traffic take it inside DC. Drivers could continue up Wisconsin, or go over to Massachusetts, or Connecticut.

Anyone going north on 46th who felt bothered by the traffic, could just go the other way on 46th, and take Massachusetts.

We are looking for recommendations for companies that install fences.
We have a 30 year old grapestake fence, which needs to be replaced.
Thanks for any recommendations.
