I went to the Wireless Zone in the Mazza Galerie to replace my cell
phone. I got talked into buying a more expensive phone so that the
new one would be compatible with a Bluetooth hands free device, as
required by DC law. The young man there programmed the cell phone and
Bluetooth to be compatible. I had some difficulty with the reception,
but after talking me through it, his opinion was that it would work.
I promptly lost the Bluetooth, a $75 item, and had to purchase
another. Not his fault, but it put me in a bad mood. A week later, I
was still trying to figure out how to operate the Bluetooth. I could
not find a set of instructions, so I returned to Wireless Zone. The
young man was there, but this time I got his assistant. She assured
me that the package should have come with instructions. She opened
another package to show me, but that package had no instructions, nor
did a couple of others. I said I am a kl! utz with learning about new
gizmos, and written instructions really help me. She began to ignore
me, waiting on 2-3 other customers who had come in after me.
Meanwhile, she had the Bluetooth in her own ear, for at least 15
minutes. Last spring, I had a very serious ear infection, and I did
not look forward to picking up another one, but I said nothing about
this. Finally, she produced a set of instructions, but she would not
give it to me. After I asked to speak with the manager, the young man
said he was the manager. I asked who his manager was, and he said he
was his own manager. Finally, the woman ran the instructions through
the copier and gave me - you guessed it - an illegible copy. I still
don't know how to use my new Bluetooth. Everybody says it's easy, but
mine is not working.
