MY RESIGNATION FROM ANC 3E
From: Chapman Todd <chapmantodd@yahoo.com>
It is with great regret that I have decided to resign
my position on ANC 3E. I have determined that a firm
currently associated with my employer, though not with
me directly, is also part of the team working on the
potential development at 5220 Wisconsin Avenue that
was presented at last Thursday night’s ANC 3E
meeting. Given this relationship, I am concerned that
my participation in discussions, deliberations or
possible ANC 3E votes about this development issue may
give the appearance of a conflict of interest. I
considered simply recusing myself from discussions on
this proposed development, but feel that this
particular issue is of such importance that the
residents of my Single Member District deserve to have
a representative who can be fully involved throughout
the process. I am therefore stepping aside
immediately so that the process of determining a
successor for me on ANC 3E can begin as quickly as
possible.
MORE ON SAFETY TIPS
From: Lawrence M. Miller <lawrence.miller@starpower.net>
The safety tips from edw3qc in the February 15th COMMUNIT-E
are a variation on a chain e-mail that has been circulating on the
Internet for five years. There is a very thoughtful analysis of it at
http://www.snopes.com/crime/prevent/ninetips.asp,
showing that
it is a mixture of good, bad, and dangerous advice.
PROPERTY TAXES
**** From: julie slattery, bloomberg<jslattery@bloomberg.net>
I am writing in because we received our property tax bill over the
weekend and were shocked to see the proposed value for 2007. Especially
considering the housing market is cooling. Can somebody point me in
the right direction to contest this bill? I seem to remember some traffic
not
too long ago about a class action lawsuit.
Thanks.

The appeal form is available online at www.dc.gov.

ZONING QUESTION
From: FDs3987649@aol.com
Very recently, my neighbors sold their house (which is right
opposite to my house) to two young guys. At that time, everything seemed
to be normal, until a few weeks into their occupancy. They have almost
converted that house of 3 bedrooms and full basement into a sort of
apartment complex. They have rented it out to a quite few of their
friends. It wouldn't matter too much, but from Mon-Friday, in the days,
all of their friends have 7 cars parking on the street with 3 zone stickers
on them. They have converted a residential street into a parking garage.
My question is--can they do that? Is it permissible....because with the
heavy flow of traffic in this area and additional cars, it is a nightmare.
Recently two of my neighbors’ car side mirrors got chopped off without
any notes left behind. Can someone give me any suggestions and answer
my question?.
Thank you.
Francis D'silva.

COMMUNITY BULLETIN BOARD
**** From: Marla Mitnick <marla.mitnick@verizon.net>
Narti Suwadi, who I consider part of my family, is seeking a
full time job as a nanny. Over the past ten years she has
worked for my family as a nanny, then kidsitter, and then
provided eldercare as our needs changed. She is one of
those elite nannies who has worked for several prominent
Washington families (and for a few of us who are not so
prominent). It’s hard to put into words how good she really
is. She has a gift with children, excellent judgment and is
driven to make her families completely happy. I could go
on and on, and will gladly do so if you would like to contact
me for a reference. I can be reached at
marla.mitnick@verizon.net. Narti
can be reached at
301-681-6486 or 301-792-0572. The other thing I should
add is that with Narti you get what you pay for and she
commands a top salary.

PETS IN THE ‘HOOD
**** From: lori rolnick <lrol@aol.com>
Hi, I live here in the neighborhood and last night I took a
foster pup from Homeward Trails. If you are looking for
the sweetest dog to add to your family Indianna (Indie) may
be your guy. He is about 90 pounds of pure love. He has had
all his vet care, and the vet estimates him to be between 1-2 years
old give or take. He is highly intelligent and social. He came into
our multi-animal house and immediately got along with both the
dogs and the cats. He went into his crate like a prince and slept
soundly through the night. Indie does not bark, has no aggression
what-so-ever and is so very handsome. He needs a loving
permanent family so we can move on to help the next one. Indie
would do wonderfully with another dog companion. He is finished
growing..thank god. Give Indie a try. I will gladly take him back
should the match not be the right one.

Owner died; 3 cats need new homes!
Brooke is about 8 years old. She's small and a little shy, but very
sweet once she gets to know you. Grady is a light-colored tabby,
about 5 years old. He's pretty big, and very outgoing. He loves to
be petted and have his belly rubbed. Tigger is also a male tabby, with
more yellowish fur. He's skinny, and has a freakishly long tail. He's
a little more reserved than Grady, but is very friendly once he gets
used to you. Pictures are available.

BLUE CREAM TORTIES NEED HOME!
Bethany and Sandi are two beautiful blue cream torties who were
rescued from a high kill shelter on the day they were going to be
euthanized. Bethany arrived with a litter of kittens and all but
Sandi were adopted. They are positively adorable--almost bookends.
Both have predominanty blue grey coats with swashes of white and
buff, and emerald green eyes. Bethany, about two years old, is a
gentle and sweet girl. Initially on the shy side, but once she gets to
know you, Bethany will be your faithful friend forever! Sandi is
about a year old and quite petite. She's very outgoing, loves to
play, and like her mom, enjoys talking to the birds from her
window perch. Both girls are spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations,
and tested negative for feline leukemia and feline aids. The
perfect home would be one that would adopt both these beauties
together! These girls have been waiting a very long time for a
home all their own. Could it be yours? Please contact Jill
<grossj@iopener.net>
for more info on this lovely pair.

GSDX PUPPY URGENTLY NEEDS RESCUE
Chip is a GSDx puppy who is a sweet young boy abandoned
on the eastern shore of Maryland. He is about 6 months old and
as sweet as sugar, gets along great with other dogs, not tested
with cats. Vet thinks he may have some chow as he has a blue
tongue and a thick red coat. Chip is UTD on shots, neutered,
heartworm tested (negative). He is living temporarily in an o
utside pen until a rescue can be found. This boy would thrive
in a loving home--especially at this formative time in his young
life. If you can help him find his way, please contact don
<adin113@verizon.net>
or denise <darnot@aol.com>.
thank you!

Special kitten needs special home
Jack, a 3 mo old tyke was dumped in someone’s yard along with his
mom, dad and sibling--all have since been placed. Jack is a striking
bullseye tabby coat w/huge eyes that take up most of his face. Sadly,
Jack was born with a congenital heart defect which is inoperable and
will shorten his life. He is currently under the care of a cardiologist
and on daily medication which he takes like a trooper. Jack is an
extraordinary, gentle kitten with a BIG purr. He loves to cuddle and
sit on your lap. You'd never know what lurks inside his little body as
he eats well, plays, enjoys the company of other cats and has perfect
litterbox habits. We are looking for a special someone who will give
him a loving home of his own and the extra care he will need for
however long he has. Can you find it in your heart to help a kitten
with a broken heart? Contact <grossj@iopener.net>.
