SOME CRIMES IN THE ‘HOOD
**** From: Tom Bartman <tombartman@att.net>
On January 23, a tire of a friend's SUV was slashed
around 2:00 in the parking lot of the Safeway on
Davenport. (Flattened the tire.) A Safeway customer
saw teens busy near the car; when they saw they were
being observed, they ran away.

A footnote on the terrible attack on Gramercy : I read that
he victim was wearing a headset. I would never listen to a
headset at night. When vision is limited, one must rely more
on the sense of hearing to warn one of impending danger.
Furthermore, it's easy to become absorbed in whatever one is
listening to. Unfortunately, one needs to be fully alert when
out on the streets. When the sun goes down, my headset
comes off.

We hired a house cleaner about three months ago, whose work
and personality we like a lot. Today, she told me her daughter
is looking for work. The only thing I know about this daughter
is that her mother is a good house cleaner. The one looking for
work is Claudia, (703) 945-0210.

LOOKING FOR SHORT TERM RENTAL
My In-Laws will be in town for 2-3 weeks starting in mid-February.
Wanted to know if anyone has any ideas where I might be able to
find a short term rental. That way they can cook their own meals, etc.

I would like to highly recommend Josephina Lorenzo for childcare
or eldercare. She has been a companion and aid to my elderly,
disabled mother for two years and she is wonderfully compassionate,
kind and devoted. She has also worked in a pre-school and has a
certificate in child development. As my mother’s constant companion,
she drove, helped with shopping, ran errands, did the laundry, light
cooking, oversaw medications and did whatever it took to keep my
mother safe and satisfied (and it took a lot). She speaks English well
and is legal. She can be reached at 301-466-4362. I will gladly
provide references if you contact me by email.

as help with creating new flower and bush beds. I'm anxious to hear
recommendations from others in the neighborhood who have had
success in this area.

Tuesday, February, 14 --La Petite Day Care Center, 1 Michigan Ave., NW,

incorrectly. In a crash, a child restrained incorrectly is 3.5 times more
likely to be seriously injured than a child who is properly restrained.

FAMILY WATCHDOG / Sex Offenders
From: David <howcroft@msn.com>

This isn’t the Virginia State Police Web Site, but rather one that
covers the whole country. John Walsh applauds it… Type in
your home address. The web site will bring up a map of your
neighborhood with small colored boxes on it. The small house
icon represents your address; the colored boxes represent the
location of sex offenders in your area.
Click on the colored boxes and it will bring up the offender's
photograph and the address.
