MOVERS
My husband and I just moved from our house in AU Park last week
(alas, to Bethesda!) and had a terrific moving experience. We used
Mullen's Transfer & Storage (tel 202-829-6676, contact Mike
Mullen's), a family owned company in DC. I received several quotes
for the move (from Mullen's, Beltway Movers and Commonwealth
Movers) and chose to go with Mullen's based on their rating in
checkbook.org, references I spoke with, and price (they gave me the
best quote by far, and it was for a fixed price). It was a great choice
for us. We had not one hiccup, not one damaged piece of furniture
or box, and the guys on the team were friendly and courteous. I would
happily use them again, and believe they serve both local moves and
moves on the East Coast.

I don't remember when I sent you the recommendation for Metro PetPals,
but I should tell you that it's no longer accurate.
**** From: AmyBNHoang@aol.com
I want to take back the recommendation I gave to Zoolatry, the dog
walkers. It turned out that they were hiding a serious behavorial problem
in our dog (snapping at the door) for months, trying to fix it themselves
by bringing strange dogs into our home, without ever telling us. When
they could no longer hide it, they abruptly quit. We have since fixed
the problem with the help of a dog trainer but all of Zoolatry's deceptions
left a really bad taste in our mouths.

Stolen auto - stolen auto
4900 block wisconsin ave nw
C1 reports the auto was stolen by unknown person(s). The key
was stolen off the gas station desk when it was left unattended.
The registration is in the auto.
There were also a number of stolen autos and thefts from autos, as
well as home and office burglaries.
As part of a concerted effort to reduce the number of motorists who
do not have required vehicle insurance in DC, the MPDC is stepping
up its enforcement of a District law that requires motor vehicle
operators to show proof of insurance. Effective immediately, when
Metropolitan Police officers conduct traffic stops or have other contacts
in which officers would normally ask for a driver's license and
registration, the officer will also ask for proof of insurance. Under
DC law, proof of insurance is defined as "a document issued by an
insurance company that lists the name of the insurance company, the
policy number, the name or names of the insured, and the period of
coverage for the insurance." Failure to provide proof of insurance
can result in a $300 fine. From June 15 through July 15, 2005, MPDC
officers will be issuing warning notices only to violators. Beginning
July 16, 2005, officers will enforce the civil fine that is attached to this
infraction. Read the full news release at:
