WATER QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM -- ANNUAL FLUSHING
From: anc3b@aol.com
As part of its' Water Quality Improvement Program, WASA is conducting an
agressive flushing
program to systematically "flush" water mains in the distribution system.
The water is released
sequentially opening D.C.'s 8,700 fire hydrants and flushing water in a
unidirectional manner.
This year, the Flushing Program will continue through November 2004, Sunday
through Thursday,
between the hours 10 pm and 6:30 am. WASA water quality crews will be working
in our
neighborhood at different intervals throughout the program period.
NOTES:
+Flushing is performed during overnight and early morning hours because
that is when water usage
is low and customers are not inconvenienced due to lower water pressure.
+Water is not shut off during flushing.
+ Customers may notice some water discoloration in the early morning hours
if WASA has been
flushing mains in the neighborhood.
