CORRECTIONS RE: COMMUNITY MEETING
**** The 2D CAC meeting is this Wednesday, January 9. I had mistakenly
put down the date as September 9. Jim Berry, an astute reader and
Chairman of the CAC, caught the error. Thanks Jim.

WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?
Can anyone shed light on the following? A resident told me that
he saw
a van with city government markings and some homeless agency title
[not
sure what it was] drop off two homeless men at Tenley Circle
this past
Saturday morning. They were left off on the street, not in front of
any
building. On Sunday night I saw 7 (count them, 7) men sleeping outside
the Tenley Metro. That was about 9:30 pm.

COMMUNITY BULLETIN BOARD
**** From: "kayandpaul" <kayandpaul@erols.com> (Kay McClenon)
I think your community recommendation list is a great resource. I have
replied to a couple of queries in communit-e, directly to the
questioners e-mail address, so those do not appear on your list.
I
think a word to your readers might suggest that they also reply to
you
as well as to
the asker.
I do want to recommend someone who does small moving and hauling jobs,
whose name I forwarded to a subscriber to communit-e. Actually,
he can
do handyman jobs as well, or if he can't, he'll recommend a friend
who
is reliable. This man is: Rodney Young, 202-291-5152. He
can put up
curtain rods, etc., and minor carpentry; he recommended a painter and
a
plumber.

I have an antique clock that needs to be restored and repaired.
It will
probably be a fairly complex job. I'd love a recommendation for
someone
who does this sort of work.

Is there any young person who would contract to shovel snow for us
for
falls over 1 inch? Pay would presumably be by the inch or by time.

My immediate need, here in Glover Park, is for someone to haul away
from
my garage some
accumulated junk (e.g., lotsa lumber pieces from remodeling).
Didn't
see anyone on the list to fit that bill ?

We are installing a railing on a balcony, and are looking for a
recommendation for someone who does cast-aluminum or cast-iron work.

If people are looking for a weekend babysitter, I can recommend my
daughter, Noel Healy. She is 17, a junior in high school, and polite
and
reliable. She is not in the same category as the high school counselor,
but your children will be safe with her. You can reach her at
202-966-4252.

THIS IS DEDICATED TO MY FELLOW ALUMS IN THE 'HOOD -- KS
From: edw3qc@att.net (Ed McCauley)
After former Florida State head football coach Bobby Bowden dies and
enters the pearly gates, God takes him on a tour. He shows Bobby a
little two-bedroom house with a faded F.S.U. banner hanging from the
front porch. "This is your house, coach. Most people don't get
their
own house up here", God says.
Bobby looks at the house, then turns around and looks at the one setting
on top of the hill. It's a huge mansion with marble columns and little
patios under all of the windows. Penn State flags line both sides of
the
side walk and a huge blue and white Penn State banner hangs between
the
marble columns.
"Thanks for the house, God. But, let me ask you a question. I get this
little two bedroom house with a faded F.S.U. banner and Paterno gets
a
mansion with new Nittany Lion banners and flags flying all over the
place. Why is that?"
God looks at him seriously for a moment and says, "Paterno's not dead.
That's my house.
