ANC3F RESOLUTION OPPOSING ISSUANCE

OF A SUPPLEMENTAL RAZING OPERATIONS PERMIT

FOR THE OWL’S NEST, 3031 GATES ROAD, N.W.

WHEREAS: the Jewish Primary Day School of the Nation’s Capital (JPDS-NC) filed an application, on or about March 1, 2001, for a permit to raze the structures at 3031 Gates Road, N.W. (Square 2263, Lot 847), and

WHEREAS: the DC Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) on March 1, 2001 issued Building Permit, Type Raze, Permit No. B435333 to JPDS-NC with the notation “No razing operations shall commence until a supplemental razing operations permit is obtained,” and

WHEREAS: on September 7, 2001, DCRA referred the application for the raze permit, HPA No. 01-568, to the Historic Preservation Review Board (HPRB) for consideration and appropriate action, and

WHEREAS: the Director of DCRA published, in the September 21, 2001 District of Columbia Register, a notice that there is a request for permission to raze structures at 3031 Gate [sic] Road, N.W., and

WHEREAS: the HPRB issued a decision dated May 16, 2001, which became final on August 20, 2001, that designates the Owl’s Nest, the property at 3031 Gates Road, N.W. (Square 2263, Lot 847), a historic landmark in the District of Columbia Inventory of Historic Sites and recommends it for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT: ANC3Frequests and urges HPRB not to approve the application, HPA No. 01-568, to raze the structures at 3031 Gates Road, N.W. (Square 2263, Lot 847).
