WHEREAS, the Board of Zoning Adjustment (BZA), was established by the Zoning Act of 1938 (D.C. Code § 5-412) to make special exceptions to the provisions of the zoning regulations and to grant variances from the strict application of the regulations in cases of hardship or practical difficulty; and
WHEREAS, the duties of the BZA include interpreting zoning maps and hearing and deciding applications for variances and special exceptions; and
WHEREAS, the BZA consists of five members, three appointed by the Mayor with advice and consent of the Council, who have been D.C. residents for at least three years (and at least one of whom is a home owner), one being a member or staff member of the National Capital Planning Commission, and one being a member or staff member of the Zoning Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor has nominated Anne M. Renshaw of ANC 3G03 to serve on the BZA and the Committee of the Whole of the Council of the District of Columbia has scheduled a hearing on that nomination for January 11, 2000, at 10;
RESOLVED that ANC 3F, at the regular monthly business meeting held on January 10, 2000, a quorum being present, endorsed the nomination of Anne M. Renshaw to the BZA; and
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Chair is directed to convey this resolution
to Chairman Linda Cropp and the Members of the Committee of the Whole.
